The brutal murder of Rev. Julius Ngari Ndumia, the Parish Minister PCEA Tubaga Parish, Nakuru East Presbytery is shocking to our church.
I send my very sincere condolences to his family and members of his parish and indeed to all Presbyterians across East Africa.
The cold blooded murder of an annointed man of God is not only callous to the extreme but raises serious questions about the security of our shepherds and indeed the Kenyan public.
Our church has been under siege from criminals under state protection for a while.
The attack of Christians in PCEA Mwiki church and PCEA Kariobangi by goons backed by police has sent shivers down the spines of PCEA church members and the silence of our church leaders over the same is indeed worrying.
The brutal murder of Rev. Ndumia has sent panic to the PCEA clergy across the country and Police inaction so far is troubling to say the least.
The Police have failed to make any arrests and have issued no statement over the murder four days after the heinous crime. Who killed Rev. Ndumia and why? Could be, he was silenced for being vocal against corruption, bad Governance and vilolation of human rights?
Could this killing be a loud threat to other vocal parish ministers within the PCEA church? I urge the Inspector General of Police to issue a public statement explaining what happened to Rev. Ndumia and what action police have taken so far.
We urge him to give an assurance to PCEA Parish Minsters of their safety and that freedom of worship and expression guaranteed by the constitution will be protected.
I urge with the greatest respect to our church leadership to condemn in the strongest terms possible the obvious persecution of the PCEA church.
I further urge the inspector General of Police to urgently institute measures to stop the ongoing breaking into of the churches where valuables are being stolen with impunity.
