The widow of the late Ol Kalou Member of Parliament David Kiaraho has urged residents of the constituency to throw their support behind the United Democratic Alliance candidate in the upcoming by-election, citing the personal kindness shown to her family by President William Ruto following her husband’s passing.
Speaking at a function on Thursday, Jackie Kiaraho told Ol Kalou electorate to vote for UDA candidate Samuel Muchina, saying that the head of state demonstrated genuine grief and compassion when her husband died.
She revealed that Ruto called her immediately after Kiaraho’s death and broke down in tears during the call, a gesture she took as proof of the deep friendship the President shared with her late husband.
Mrs. Kiaraho also disclosed that First Lady Rachel Ruto personally visited her home and arrived with a lorry loaded with rice and ugali flour for the family, a show of support she described as deeply touching.
On the strength of that kindness, she appealed to Ol Kalou residents to reward the President and his wife by electing Muchina as the next area MP.
“Rais Ruto alilia sana wakati bwana yangu Kiaraho aliaga. Hapo akatuma lori imejaa unga na chakula. Huyu Rais ni mzuri sana, anajali watu wa Ol Kalou,” Jackie said.
The Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election is scheduled for July 16th and is shaping up to be a fiercely contested race between UDA’s David Muchina and Democracy for Citizens Party candidate Samuel Ngotho, with both camps working hard to win over voters in what promises to be a closely fought mini poll.
