Police officers in Kasarani Sub-County have dealt a major blow to a suspected drug trafficking and contraband network following a successful intelligence-led operation in the Marurui area.
Acting on credible intelligence, officers from Njathaini Police Station raided suspected drug distribution points within Marurui Shopping Area, leading to the arrest of two women believed to be involved in the sale and distribution of narcotics and illicit alcohol.
During the operation, officers recovered a large quantity of drugs, illicit brew, and equipment allegedly used in the packaging and distribution of the illegal substances.
According to police, the suspects were found in possession of 1,195 processed rolls of bhang, 2,001 grams of unprocessed bhang, and 40 litres of illicit brew.
Police also recovered weighing scales and packaging materials suspected to have been used in preparing the narcotics for sale.
The two suspects were taken into custody and are expected to be arraigned in court to face charges related to drug trafficking and possession of illicit alcohol.
The National Police Service (NPS) commended the officers involved in the operation and reaffirmed its commitment to combating drug trafficking and the sale of illicit brews across the country.
According to the police, the illegal trade in narcotics and illicit alcohol continues to pose a serious threat to public safety, health, and the well-being of communities.
The NPS further urged members of the public to continue sharing actionable intelligence with law enforcement agencies to support ongoing efforts to curb crime and enhance security in neighborhoods across the country.
