Detectives from Kayole Police Station have arrested one of the suspects captured on CCTV during a daring robbery at a salon in Saika, Nairobi, where a group of women attending a chama meeting was targeted.
The suspect, identified as Dennis Macharia, alias “Mahua,” was arrested during an intelligence-led operation in the Korogocho area.
His arrest comes days after the July 26, 2026 incident that left victims counting losses after armed robbers made away with cash and mobile phones.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Macharia and an accomplice, who is still on the run, stormed the salon while armed with a pistol and threatened the unsuspecting women before stealing approximately Sh50,000 and several mobile phones.
During the operation, detectives recovered a motorcycle with registration number KMDE 473B, which investigators believe was used as the getaway bike during the robbery.
Officers also recovered two knives that have since been detained as exhibits to support the ongoing investigation.
Macharia is currently undergoing processing ahead of his arraignment in court.
Meanwhile, detectives have intensified the manhunt for the second suspect, who remains at large.
The DCI has appealed to members of the public with any information that could lead to his arrest to report it to the nearest police station or through the appropriate security agencies.
