Royal Media Services (RMS) founder and chairman, Dr Samuel Kamau Macharia, has publicly thrown his weight behind President William Ruto’s broad-based government initiative.
The broad-based government, a joint initiative between President Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, was launched to foster national unity following the June 25th Gen Z protests, which tragically claimed the lives of many young Kenyans and led to the arrest of thousands.
The movement has gradually attracted prominent figures across Kenya’s political landscape. Among those who have expressed support are KANU Chairman Gideon Moi and former President Uhuru Kenyatta, signalling a growing alignment among political heavyweights towards Ruto’s 2027 re-election ambitions.

On Monday, the initiative received a major boost when Dr SK Macharia was photographed in the company of Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot, Siaya Governor James Orengo, and Siaya Senator Dr Oburu Odinga.
The four were attending the launch of a Boda Boda empowerment programme in Siaya County — an event organised under the auspices of President Ruto’s administration.
The image of Dr Macharia alongside the leaders has sparked widespread speculation, with many interpreting it as a clear indication that the veteran media mogul has joined other influential figures in endorsing Ruto’s efforts to consolidate support ahead of the 2027 general election.
