A close relative of Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi has moved many Kenyans after making a heartfelt public appeal for employment, revealing the harsh realities of his life despite his powerful family connection.
The young man, identified as Mbadi’s nephew, opened up about his difficult living conditions, saying he relies on menial jobs to feed his wife and children.
Photos circulating online show him in worn-out clothes, engaging in casual labour — a stark contrast to the lavish lifestyle often associated with political families.
He lamented that although he is related to one of the country’s top government officials, he has never received any assistance and is struggling to make ends meet amid the soaring cost of living.
The man revealed that he graduated in 2021 with a Bachelor’s degree in Education (Arts) but has been jobless for the past four years, despite numerous efforts to secure employment.
His emotional plea has since gone viral, drawing sympathy from many Kenyans who urged CS Mbadi and other well-wishers to intervene and help him find a stable job.
