Gospel musician Phyllis Mbuthia was reportedly arrested on Saturday night upon her arrival in Seattle, United States.
According to sources, Mbuthia had been scheduled to perform at a New Year’s crossover gospel event on Thursday, December 31, in Seattle.
However, the performance did not take place after she was allegedly detained shortly after landing.
Preliminary reports indicate that the artiste was taken into custody by U.S. immigration authorities, although the exact circumstances surrounding her arrest have not yet been made public.
As of the third day since the incident, Mbuthia is said to remain in detention, with no official statement issued by U.S. authorities or her representatives regarding the reasons for her detention.
Additional reports suggest that the gospel singer is currently being processed for deportation by immigration officials, pending further administrative procedures.
Efforts to obtain clarification from event organizers and her management team are ongoing.
