Gospel singer Phyllis Mbuthia has broken her silence regarding her sudden return to Kenya, confirming that she was deported from the United States following widespread online speculation.
In a series of videos posted on her official TikTok page, Mbuthia acknowledged that U.S. authorities denied her entry, clearing the air on rumors surrounding her unexpected return ahead of scheduled gospel performances.
One of the videos shows an official envelope from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the agency responsible for immigration checks at airports and border points.
Reports suggest that her case was handled at the point of entry, meaning she was stopped by immigration officers upon arrival rather than through a court or prolonged enforcement process inside the country.
In general, such actions occur when a traveler’s documents or stated purpose of travel do not fully meet U.S. entry requirements.
Deportation in these circumstances does not necessarily involve criminal charges, jail time, or visa violations beyond entry denial.
The envelope also indicates a CBP office in Seattle, further confirming that the decision was made at the airport.
Mbuthia chose to address the issue directly, demonstrating transparency while not delving into the legal technicalities of her case.
