SportPesa Chief Executive Officer and Kasarani Member of Parliament Ronald Karauri has strongly denied online allegations linking him to a romantic relationship with another man.
The claims were made by an individual identified on Telegram as Moh_e-ghai, who alleged that he had been involved with Karauri in a past relationship.
The man, who admitted that the relationship had since ended, further claimed that the SportPesa CEO had been trailing him using an unmarked vehicle and had issued death threats.
He also threatened to release videos allegedly showing the two spending time together if the purported harassment continued.
However, speaking on Wednesday, Karauri directly addressed a well-known blogger, challenging him to produce the alleged footage. He went further, offering a Sh10 million reward tied to its release.
The first-term lawmaker suggested that the accusations could be politically motivated, noting that the country was entering a tense political season.
Karauri insisted that he is heterosexual and described the allegations as fabricated lies aimed at damaging his reputation.
“I usually don’t address such topics, but I must speak on this. I am extremely straight—the straightest person you will ever meet. If I’m going to have any issues, it is going to be with women. Women are the root of all problems in my life,” Karauri said.
“It is political season, and maybe people have an agenda they want to push. Don’t be scared. If it is about politics, we shall meet in the ring. The story is totally fabricated; I don’t know what agenda the blogger wants to push.”
He dismissed suggestions that he was worried about the release of compromising material, maintaining that no such video exists.
Karauri then issued a public financial challenge, offering Sh10 million for the alleged footage to be shared by Wednesday at 5pm.
“I will give you money to share the videos. I’m giving you up to today, 5pm. I have Sh5 million for you. I know that video does not exist,” he said.
He added that if the video is not produced, Sh8 million would instead be donated to his foundation to support children, while Sh2 million would go towards funding an upcoming boxing match.
Of that amount, Sh1 million would cater for Kasarani residents’ attendance at the fight, while another Sh1 million would be set aside as prize money.
