Russia Warns United Kingdom Of Dire Consequences For Providing Ukraine With Drones That Struck Moscow And Wildberries

Russia has issued a stark and threatening warning to the United Kingdom after British-made drones were used by Ukraine to strike targets deep inside Russian territory, including military and oil infrastructure as well as Russia’s largest online retailer, Wildberries, in attacks that have brought the war uncomfortably close to the everyday lives of ordinary Russian citizens.

On Tuesday, the Russian Embassy stated that Britain had been deliberately escalating the conflict in Ukraine and warned that the deeper London’s involvement became, the higher the price it would ultimately pay.

“London is deliberately opting for an escalation of the Ukraine crisis, seeking to contain Russia and inflict maximum damage on it by proxy. London’s actions will inevitably carry consequences for which it will have to answer. The deeper its involvement in the conflict and the greater its support for Kyiv’s terrorist machinery, the higher the price it will pay,” the Russian Embassy said in a statement.

Britain, however, showed no sign of backing down. Prime Minister Andy Burnham responded swiftly and firmly, reaffirming his country’s unwavering commitment to Ukraine and dismissing Russia’s threats as no deterrent whatsoever.

“This is the UK doing what it has long said it would do, which is to support Ukraine 100 percent against this illegal war led by Vladimir Putin. We are providing support so that Ukraine can defend itself, and that has been the British position all the way through this conflict by previous prime ministers. It remains the case with me. We are not fair-weather friends. We will be there in Ukraine’s hour of need, and that will not change,” Burnham said.

The use of British-made drones is part of Ukraine’s broader and increasingly aggressive deep strike campaign, which has seen Kyiv ramp up long-range attacks on Russian military industries and energy facilities throughout the year. It is not the first time Ukraine has used British-supplied equipment inside Russian territory, having previously deployed Storm Shadow missiles in similar operations.

Among the most striking targets hit in the latest wave of strikes was Wildberries, Russia’s largest online retailer, where a drone attack burned merchandise worth billions of pounds. The attack on a civilian commercial giant has driven home the reality of the war to the Russian public in a way that strikes on distant military installations never could, more than four years into Moscow’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Russia’s warning to Britain is its loudest yet, but with London showing no intention of reducing its support for Kyiv, the confrontation between the two nations looks set to deepen further in the weeks ahead.
