Hot 96 radio presenter Nick Odhiambo has ignited a heated debate online after declaring that he will not marry again, citing the peace he finds in single life.
The 44-year-old broadcaster made the remarks on Alex Mwakideu’s AMTV Podcast, where he spoke candidly about relationships, financial pressure and modern marriage.
“I will never get married again; it’s too peaceful being unmarried,” he said.
His stance comes after a short-lived marriage. Nick wed Ann Sumbeiywo in a colourful ceremony in 2024, but the couple reportedly separated just weeks later. According to reports, the split followed an upsetting episode shortly after the wedding, in which a man contacted Nick on X claiming a relationship with his new wife. The marriage reportedly ended soon after.
Since then, Nick is said to have settled on a different approach to love: spending time with a partner, giving her the freedom to live her own life, and reconnecting whenever the moment feels right, rather than committing to marriage.
Reactions have been mixed. Some praise his honesty and say peace of mind is a valid priority. Others think he is writing off marriage too quickly after a painful experience. His comments have also revived the wider debate about the financial expectations placed on men in marriage and whether the traditional model suits everyone.
