The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission(IEBC has laid out plans to rig the 2027 presidential election in favour of the incumbent.
IEBC, which opposition leaders have described as an appendage of the executive, has been trying many ways to ensure the 2027 presidential election is not free and fair. This is because the incumbent president, William Ruto, has no chance of winning the 2027 presidential election in a free and fair poll.
According to security briefings, Ruto’s popularity is currently at 18 percent nationally, and IEBC is not happy with those ratings.
According to a document signed by all IEBC commissioners, the commissioners want to increase polling stations by more than 9,000, from 46,229 in 2022 to 55,393 ahead of the 2027 General Election.
According to political pundits and the opposition, this is an elaborate plan by IEBC to rig the election, since the 9,000 new polling stations might have ghost voters who could be added to the national tally to favour the incumbent.
President William Ruto, who won the 2022 election using the hustler narrative, has become very unpopular in the country due to his theocratic rule, poor governance and failure to take corruption seriously.
