A close friend and colleague has paid a heartfelt tribute to Allan Mwenda, the owner of the BMW involved in the fatal Mbagathi Road crash that claimed three lives after a night out in Nairobi.
Mwenda, who served as a Senior Monitoring and Evaluation Officer at the National Oil Corporation of Kenya (NOCK), died after the vehicle he was travelling in reportedly veered off the road, struck the stairs leading to a pedestrian footbridge near the Riara University turn-off, and burst into flames in the early hours of Saturday.
Taking to social media, the grieving colleague remembered Allan as a hardworking, dedicated, and dependable professional who was always among the first to report to work and one of the last to leave.
He also recalled how Allan often gave him lifts in the now-destroyed BMW after he joined the corporation, describing him as a generous friend whose sudden death has left colleagues in shock.
“People can’t believe you are gone, Mazeh.
“You bowed out of this sh!tty life too early bana.
“Just when your prime was beginning to pick! It’s just crazy. It will be hard not having to see you arrive early and leave late from the office.
“All the small matters that were pending, we had plans to sort out kesho… This life is just a joke!
“Fly up there with the angels, bro,” part of the emotional tribute read.
The heartbreaking message has touched many Kenyans online, with friends and colleagues describing Allan as an ambitious professional whose life was cut short at the peak of his career.
According to reports, Allan and his companions had spent the night at an entertainment venue in Nairobi West before the fatal crash.
