A Grade 9 pupil has died following a tragic incident at CITAM Schools Ngong, the school has confirmed in an official statement to parents and guardians.
According to the statement, the incident occurred on Tuesday morning when the Grade 9 learner reportedly fell from the rooftop within the school premises.
School administrators and staff responded immediately and ensured the student received urgent medical attention.
After consulting with the student’s parents, she was rushed to Karen Hospital for specialized treatment.
However, the school said she was pronounced dead upon arrival, leaving the entire school community in deep mourning.
“We experienced a serious incident involving a Grade 9 student who fell from the rooftop. The Head of School and our staff acted immediately to ensure she received urgent medical attention,” the statement read.
Following the incident, the school administration reported the matter to Ngong Police Station and said it is fully cooperating with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and other relevant authorities as investigations continue.
CITAM Schools Ngong extended its heartfelt condolences to the student’s parents, family, friends, and classmates, describing the death as a devastating loss to the entire school community.
The school also announced that it will provide professional counseling and pastoral support to the bereaved family, learners, and staff affected by the tragedy.
In its communication, the school appealed to parents, students, and the public to avoid speculation and refrain from sharing unverified information on social media, emphasizing the need to respect the grieving family and allow investigations to proceed without interference.
