Nelson Ambia, the man accused of brutally murdering his girlfriend, Feruz Hussein, has been arraigned in court as the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) seeks to have him detained pending investigations.
Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko confirmed the development in a social media post, saying the DCI had filed an application seeking custodial detention as investigations into the shocking murder continue.
Sonko said they were awaiting the court’s decision on the application.
Ambia is also accused of repeatedly assaulting Feruz and allegedly attacking her mother, sister and brother.
In even more disturbing allegations, Sonko claimed that Ambia called Feruz’s mother and sister, Shadia, and threatened to kill the family’s two remaining children, 15-year-old Malik and 19-year-old Shadia.
The former governor further alleged that Ambia took advantage of the family’s poverty, believing that nobody would stand up for them or help them pursue justice.
According to Sonko, well-wishers referred the terrified family to his office, where they immediately intervened to help them seek justice for Feruz.
Sonko has vowed to stand with the family throughout the legal process, insisting that poverty should never prevent anyone from accessing justice.
“BEING POOR DOES NOT MEAN YOU DON’T DESERVE JUSTICE!” Sonko declared, promising to support the family until justice is served.
