Fear and concern over rising insecurity in Nairobi have intensified after armed thugs riding on motorbikes stormed Shanus Restaurant in Westlands and robbed customers during a family dinner outing.
According to one of the victims, the terrifying incident unfolded as they were peacefully enjoying their meals at the popular establishment.
The victim said the attackers arrived on motorbikes before two of them drew firearms and ordered everyone to surrender their valuables.
The gang reportedly made off with two expensive mobile phones, car keys, and a wallet before speeding away from the scene.
“My kids are traumatized,” the victim said, describing the ordeal and urging members of the public to remain cautious when visiting the restaurant.
The robbery has since sparked renewed concerns over the growing trend of criminals posing as boda boda riders, particularly in Nairobi’s upscale neighborhoods where such attacks have become increasingly reported.
In a worrying development, reports also indicate that on the same day, another individual was robbed by armed motorbike-riding thugs within the Westlands area in broad daylight, further heightening fears over security in the capital.
