A second-year Education Arts student at Mount Kenya University (MKU), Faith Jeptoo, has been found dead at her residence in the Action area of Eldoret in a shocking incident that has left her family and fellow students in mourning.
Jeptoo, who hailed from Kachebugus in Kapyego Ward, Marakwet East, Elgeyo Marakwet County, was discovered inside her house after relatives raised concerns over her whereabouts.
According to preliminary reports, the house had been padlocked from the outside, prompting family members to alert police officers from Ainaptich Police Station.
Upon gaining access to the house, Jeptoo was found with severe knife wounds to her neck and forehead.
Preliminary accounts indicate that the suspected attacker locked the house from the outside after the incident, took the keys and fled the scene.
Police officers from Ainaptich Police Station, alongside local detectives, have since launched investigations into the murder and are pursuing leads to identify and arrest the suspect.
The motive behind the killing has not yet been established as investigations continue.
