Law enforcement officers from Muhoroni Sub-County have arrested three individuals suspected of being linked to a violent gang that stormed Chemelil Academy, leaving behind destruction and fear.
The incident occurred on June 18, 2026, when police received a distress call reporting an ongoing attack at the school.
Officers responded swiftly, rushing to the scene.
Upon arrival, they encountered about 20 armed men fleeing in different directions. Some escaped towards Achego while others disappeared into nearby sugarcane plantations.
Police say the gang had already caused significant damage, forcing their way into the administration block and vandalising offices belonging to the Principal and Deputy Principal.
During the attack, staff members were assaulted as the assailants stole 10 smartphones, cash, and other valuables before escaping.
In the aftermath, injured staff were rushed to Nyang’oma Sub-County Hospital, where they are receiving treatment and are reported to be in stable condition.
Following the attack, detectives launched investigations and a manhunt for those involved.
Acting on intelligence leads, officers later arrested three suspects within Chemelil-Bernard Ouma, Thomas Onyango Ouma, and Walter Owa alias Teddy Obul.
The three suspects are currently in police custody undergoing processing ahead of arraignment in court.
Meanwhile, security agencies have intensified efforts to track down the remaining suspects who are still on the run, with investigations into the full extent of the attack ongoing.
