Mukurweini Member of Parliament John Kaguchia has claimed that heavily armed, hooded and masked men surrounded Citizen TV studios in what he believes was an attempt to arrest him.
In a post shared on his official Facebook account at night, the MP alleged that the officers arrived in a convoy of about 13 Subaru vehicles and double-cab pickups.
“Hooded and masked heavily armed men in about 13 Subarus and double cabs,” Kaguchia wrote.
The legislator questioned the manner in which the alleged operation was being conducted, saying law enforcement officers should follow established legal and constitutional procedures when making arrests.
“This is a total disregard of the law! If you want to arrest me for whatever reason, use uniformed police officers and follow established legal and constitutional procedures,” he stated.
Kaguchia further described the alleged operation as an act of intimidation and called for an end to such tactics.
“This intimidation must stop,” he added.
Kaguchia had earlier attended an interview on Inooro TV, a vernacular station owned by Royal Media Services.
Earlier in the day, the vocal MP and close ally of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua had faced backlash after a video clip allegedly showing him making inflammatory remarks circulated widely on social media.
