Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has directed the immediate suspension of all activities related to the proposed Ebola quarantine facility at the Laikipia Air Base.
Appearing before the High Court on Tuesday for mitigation ahead of sentencing after being found in contempt of court over the disputed US-funded project, Duale said he had ordered the complete cessation of any intended construction, site preparation, or related activities at the site.
“I have directed the immediate and complete cessation of any intended construction, site preparation, or related activities concerning the Laikipia Air Base Ebola facility pending the hearing and determination of the court case,” the CS stated.
The directive follows a court order issued in relation to the controversial project, which has sparked public debate and concerns among sections of stakeholders.
Duale emphasized that the Ministry of Health will fully comply with the court’s directives and await the outcome of the legal proceedings before taking any further action regarding the facility.
The matter will remain on hold pending the court’s determination of the case.
