Three suspects, including a Member of County Assembly (MCA), are in police custody following an operation in the Roasters area of Nairobi that led to the recovery of a Glock pistol.

The suspects were identified as Patrick Karani, the MCA for Embakasi East Sub-County, Stephen Kimathi Karimoni, and Stanley Njogu Irungu.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), detectives raided the MCA’s office and recovered a Glock pistol loaded with a magazine containing 12 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the firearm was being possessed without a valid license.

The recovered pistol and ammunition have since been secured as exhibits as investigations continue.

The three suspects remain in custody as detectives finalize processing ahead of their arraignment in court.

The DCI reiterated that unlawful possession of firearms poses a serious threat to public safety and warned that individuals found violating firearms laws will face legal action.
