Emotional scenes were witnessed in Machakos County as family, relatives, and friends gathered to lay Elizabeth Ngina Mulwa, 21, to rest following her brutal killing.
The grieving family proceeded with the burial despite her head and several fingers still missing after the horrific incident.
Elizabeth was a student at Thika Technical Training Institute (TTTI), and her death has left her family, fellow students, and the wider community in deep shock.
Mourners paid glowing tributes to the 21-year-old, remembering her as a young woman with a bright future whose life was cut short under tragic circumstances.
Elizabeth was found dead in her rented house in the Kiang’ombe area of Thika, Kiambu County.
Her boyfriend, Dennis Mwangi, was arrested to assist detectives with investigations into the murder.
According to police, Mwangi told investigators that he had been away from the house and returned to find the door locked.
He claimed that after searching for a spare key, he opened the door and allegedly found Elizabeth’s body hidden under the bed.
Police are continuing with investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing and to identify those responsible.
