Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has said she has forgiven Naivasha MP Jayne Kihara following a heated television debate that almost descended into a physical confrontation.
In a post shared on her X account after the interview, Passaris appeared to acknowledge that the exchange had left her upset.
“I’m feeling silly, stupid and mad; all at the same time,” Passaris wrote.
However, the vocal Woman Representative struck a conciliatory tone in the same post, emphasizing that despite the heated exchange, she remained confident in herself and her faith.
“But you know what? I am still beautifully and wonderfully made in God’s image,” she added.
Passaris then extended an olive branch to Kihara, publicly saying that she had forgiven her and citing a Bible verse on resolving anger.
“I forgive you, Hon. Jane Kihara, because the Bible says: ‘Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry.’ — Ephesians 4:26,” she stated.
The message came shortly after the two legislators engaged in a tense live television debate that drew significant attention online.
The exchange became heated when Passaris invoked the 2007 post-election violence, pointing at Kihara and linking her to events that unfolded in Naivasha following the disputed presidential election.
The remarks appeared to anger Kihara, who responded, “I could hit her.”
Passaris immediately seized on the remark, asking, “Do you see how violent she is?”
Kihara, visibly agitated during the exchange, then told Passaris, “I can’t debate with a mad woman.”
The situation prompted another interviewee to intervene and appeal to the two legislators to calm down, referring to them as “elder sisters” and members of Parliament.
As the confrontation continued, the host was eventually forced to cut Passaris’ audio feed in an apparent attempt to restore order during the live discussion.
