Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has congratulated Sammy Kamau Ngotho after he emerged victorious in the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) nominations for the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election and aired his views on how the whole process was conducted.
In a statement posted on his X account following the exercise, Gachagua said Ngotho secured 12,957 votes in what he described as a free, fair, and democratic nomination process.
He praised residents of Ol Kalou for turning out in large numbers and participating peacefully, noting that the exercise reflected the party’s commitment to respecting the voice of wananchi.
“This contest has demonstrated to the people of Kenya that our party is a free and democratic space for all and it is the voice of the Kenyan people that we listen to,” he stated.
Gachagua also commended candidates who lost in the nominations for accepting the outcome and pledging support for the winner ahead of the July 16th, 2026 by-election.
He further applauded the National Elections Board, polling officials, and party staff for what he termed one of the most organized and transparent nomination exercises in recent history.
At the same time, he lauded the National Police Service in Nyandarua County for maintaining peace and order throughout the process, saying the officers lived up to their motto of “Utumishi Kwa Wote.”
Gachagua expressed optimism that the same level of professionalism will be maintained during the upcoming by-election and the 2027 General Election, before wishing Sammy Kamau Ngotho success in the race ahead.
