Former Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has weighed in on the outcome of the Ol Kalou parliamentary party nominations, arguing that President William Ruto still stands a strong chance of winning the 2027 General Election even without overwhelming support from the Mt Kenya region.
In a statement shared on X, Kuria congratulated the people of Ol Kalou for peacefully participating in the nominations and praised the two candidates who emerged victorious in the rival party primaries.
“Let me take this opportunity to congratulate the people of Ol Kalou and the two winners Samuel Muchina (UDA) and Kamau Ngotho (DCP), both of whom are incidentally my good friends,” Kuria stated.
He noted that out of 71,000 registered voters, about 32,000 participated in the nominations, with DCP garnering approximately 24,000 votes against UDA’s 8,000 votes.
According to Kuria, the results support his long-held political analysis model, which he claims shows President Ruto can still secure re-election even without votes from Mt Kenya.
“In my predictive and analytical model which I have shared thrice in the media, William Ruto will be re-elected even without a single vote from Mt Kenya because of the tyranny of small numbers versus tyranny of numbers,” he said.
Kuria further argued that if Ruto manages to secure even 25 percent of Mt Kenya votes, his chances of re-election would become even stronger.
He added that the upcoming Ol Kalou by-election on July 16th will provide a clearer picture of the political direction in the region.
“Winning a battle is sweet but winning the war is even more important,” Kuria concluded.
