Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has urged President William Ruto to stop “bothering” former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka with persistent calls allegedly aimed at pushing him to join the government.
According to Gachagua, President Ruto has spent the past year attempting to lure Kalonzo away from the united opposition alliance, which Gachagua says remains firm and intact. He accused the president of plotting to weaken the opposition ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking during a church service at Christ Dominion Ministries in Kasarani, Nairobi, Gachagua dismissed the alleged overtures, insisting they would not succeed.
“We are solid and will remain united in the opposition. We will liberate this country together,” he said.
Gachagua further claimed that after failing to win over Kalonzo, government operatives had shifted tactics and were now attempting to sow discord between the two leaders.
“The relationship between Kalonzo and me is not about leadership, politics, or the presidency; it is family. Blood is thicker than water. If anyone thinks they can divide a family, they are wasting their time,” he said.
He added that communities in Mt. Kenya and Ukambani had long endured unnecessary political divisions but were now working together with a shared purpose.
“We will sit together as one family, and the decisions we make going forward will be family decisions,” he said.
Gachagua also commended the growing popularity of the Wiper party in Nairobi, noting that its rise reflects years of cooperation and mutual political support with ODM.
