Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has intensified his criticism of President William Ruto, accusing him of abandoning close political allies after using them to achieve his political objectives.
Speaking during a media interview, Gachagua claimed he had advised Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku to learn from the experiences of leaders who previously worked closely with President Ruto but later fell out with him.
“I’ve told Ruku to read with me. Ruto is a person who uses people. Let him read with Linturi, let him read with Justin Muturi. All those people were his people, he has turned against us. Even he will come to turn against him,” Gachagua said.
The former Deputy President alleged that his own fallout with President Ruto began after his controversial “shares” remarks, which he claimed triggered the breakdown of their political relationship.
“He turned against me over the words about shares,” Gachagua stated.
Gachagua also warned Ruku against attempting to divide the Mt Kenya voting bloc, insisting that the region remains united despite the ongoing political realignments.
“Tell Ruku, you can’t divide this mountain. Trying to divide this mountain is like cutting down mugumo trees with a razor,” he said.
