Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has claimed that Deputy President Kithure Kindiki is being mistreated within the Kenya Kwanza administration, alleging that President William Ruto is deliberately creating conditions to force him out of office ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Speaking during a media interview on Sunday, Gachagua alleged that Kindiki is quietly enduring challenges similar to those he says he faced while serving as Deputy President.

According to Gachagua, the key difference is that he was more outspoken and would not tolerate public humiliation during his tenure, while Kindiki has chosen to remain silent despite allegedly facing similar treatment.

“I know what Kindiki is going through. At least, for me, no one could dare insult me when I was in Government because I was tough-headed,” Gachagua said.

He further alleged that recent public criticism directed at Kindiki by some leaders, including Suna East MP Junet Mohamed, was being orchestrated by President Ruto.

“Even Junet is speaking on behalf of Ruto. Ruto has instructed him to make public remarks that will irk Kindiki and force him to resign,” Gachagua claimed.

The former Deputy President alleged that President Ruto was using political allies to frustrate Kindiki in a bid to pressure him into leaving office.

Gachagua’s claims come amid growing political speculation over whether President Ruto will retain Kindiki as his running mate in the 2027 General Election.
