On Wednesday morning, Kenyans woke up to shocking news that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua had boarded a Lufthansa flight to Germany, where he was reportedly set to undergo treatment for prostate cancer.
The news was being spread by pro-government bloggers and influencers who had each been paid Sh 527 to amplify the message.
It is no secret that the government is running a negative campaign against Rigathi Gachagua, who is fast emerging as a major roadblock to President William Ruto’s re-election bid in the 2027 presidential race.
With the government spending millions of shillings daily to fuel an anti-Gachagua crusade across social media and in every public forum, we can now authoritatively report that the former deputy president is fit as a butcher’s dog. At the time of writing, he was at Milimani Law Courts, present and listening attentively to the proceedings of his impeachment case.
During the hearing, defence lawyers proceeded with the examination of Gachagua’s cardiologist, Dr. Gikonyo—the doctor who treated the former Deputy President when he fell ill during his impeachment proceedings back in October 2024.
The cancer rumors, despite their malicious intent, sparked a rare moment of political unity, drawing prayers from prominent figures, including Fred Matiang’i—a reminder that compassion can still cut through even the bitterest political strife.
Meanwhile, Gachagua’s legal team continues to argue that his deteriorating health at the time was deliberately ignored during the Senate trial.
The hearing is ongoing
