The Head of Presidential Special Projects and Creative Economy, Dennis Itumbi, has claimed that Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has already settled on Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna as his running mate ahead of the 2027 General Election.
In a detailed statement posted on his X account, Itumbi alleged that Kalonzo’s camp is actively advancing its political strategy without waiting for input or endorsement from former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
According to Itumbi, Kalonzo and his allies have agreed on forming a new political alliance dubbed the “Ukombozi Linda Mwananchi Alliance.”
He further claimed that the coalition has already finalized key political positions for Nairobi County, with Embakasi East MP Babu Owino being fronted for Governor, Irungu Nyakera for Senator, and another candidate being considered for the Woman Representative seat.
“I know you had previously advised that Nairobi should have a Kikuyu Governor. They have respectfully rejected that suggestion and settled on their own lineup,” Itumbi stated, while addressing Gachagua.
He also alleged that Nyakera has shifted focus away from a gubernatorial bid against Babu Owino and is now aligned with the coalition’s broader political arrangement.
Itumbi further claimed that Kalonzo’s team is making strategic inroads into the Mt Kenya region, independent of Gachagua’s influence.
He added that the “Linda Mwananchi” movement is scheduled to hold political engagements in Thika on June 11 and in Meru on June 21 as part of its grassroots mobilization efforts.
According to him, Kalonzo Musyoka is expected to officially declare his presidential bid in August, following ongoing consultations within the coalition.
Itumbi also claimed that at least seven political parties are expected to sign a memorandum of understanding in the coming weeks to formalize the alliance.
He named several political figures allegedly aligned with the coalition, including Eugene Wamalwa, Justin Muturi, Lenny Kivuti, Kawira Mwangaza, Irungu Nyakera, and Kalonzo Musyoka.
