Former Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has claimed that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is unhappy with Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata for allegedly contributing only Ksh2 million in his bid to secure a ticket from the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) ahead of the 2027 General Election.
In a post shared on his X account, Kuria claimed that Gachagua’s trip to the United States was partly aimed at handling political matters away from what he described as interference from some politicians loyal to him, including Senator John Methu.
“On Sunday, 9th August 2026, I pre-warned Jeff Koinange and the world the real reason and timing of Rigathi Gachagua’s trip to the USA. Today, he confirmed that there are things he will do there away from interference by his gullible cult followers like Kaguchia and Methu. Need I say more?” Kuria wrote.
He went on to claim that there was a second reason behind Gachagua’s trip, alleging that financial contributions could determine which Mt. Kenya aspirants secure DCP nominations.
“But there is a second reason. The only qualification for Mt. Kenya aspirants to get the DCP candidates is meeting the monetary threshold required. Ask Irungu Kangata who is already in trouble for only giving Ksh2 Million unlike the exemplary Moses Kiarie Badilisha of Nyandarua who has set the benchmark with his generous Ksh50 Million contribution,” Kuria claimed.
According to Kuria, the alleged move to shift the “delivery point” to the US was intended to separate serious aspirants from those he considers unserious.
“Now the only way to show joking aspirants this is not a joking matter is to move the delivery point to the USA. If you can afford to get a visa and air ticket then you are a good and serious candidate,” he added.
Kuria further warned aspirants who had not secured visas and booked flights to the US, saying they risked being considered unserious.
“If you have not secured a visa and booked a ticket, you are either a fool or naive or both,” he said.
