A 35-year-old man, Mulinge Jackson Omuga, the Male Youth Representative in the Kibra NG-CDF Committee, was on Wednesday morning found dead inside his house in the Riverside area of Kibra Constituency under circumstances that have raised questions.
According to family members and observations made at the scene, Omuga’s body had visible injuries, including bruises on his face and a swollen head, prompting suspicions that he may have been assaulted.
His brother, Collins Omuga, who lives in Kikuyu, said their mother became concerned after she was unable to reach Jackson by phone from Monday, something he described as unusual.
Collins travelled to Kibra on Wednesday morning to check on him.
“I opened the door and found my brother lying lifeless on the floor. His baby was lying next to his head,” Collins said.
He added that he immediately took the child to a neighbour before alerting the authorities.
Omuga’s girlfriend, who was in school at the time, said she had also tried calling him several times on Tuesday without success.
On Wednesday morning, while on her way to school, she received a call from one of Omuga’s friends informing her that Jackson had allegedly been beaten.
She contacted his parents before rushing to the house, where she found police officers already at the scene and Omuga’s body lying on the floor.
Police have since launched investigations into the incident. The family says Omuga had never complained of any health problems and plans to conduct a post-mortem examination to establish the exact cause of his death.
As investigations continue, the circumstances surrounding Omuga’s death remain unclear.
