Nyandarua Senator John Methu has claimed that a group of women allegedly mobilized to attend a political meeting organized by allies of President William Ruto ended up donating the money they received to the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) candidate in the forthcoming Ol Kalou by-election.
In a post shared on his X account, Methu alleged that the women were picked early Thursday morning and taken to Hotel Acacia in Gilgil, where they were allegedly persuaded to support President Ruto’s preferred UDA candidate.
According to the senator, the women later contacted his team while travelling back, informing them that they had received money at the meeting but wanted to hand it over to the DCP candidate instead.
“Let me tell you a story. These women were picked this morning, lured to Hotel Acacia Gilgil, lied to by William Samoei Ruto honchos to support his candidate.
“On their way back, they frantically called my team to inform me that they’ve been given money and want to share it with our candidate.
“Stage ya kwanza walishuka Mugumo, wakajenga Sammy Douglas Kamau Waweru – Ngotho kitu wakaishia,” Methu wrote.
The senator presented the incident as evidence that the women had rejected attempts to influence their political choices and had instead opted to support the DCP candidate, Sammy Douglas Kamau Waweru, popularly known as Ngotho.
