Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations’ Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU) have arrested a 38-year-old man after intercepting a Nairobi-bound long-distance bus along the Mombasa-Nairobi Highway and recovering heroin valued at approximately Ksh 1 million.

The operation was conducted following a tip-off.

Detectives set up along the highway at Taru, where they stopped the bus and carried out a thorough search.

During the operation, officers identified the suspect, Brian Tabu Owuor, who was seated at Seat No. 29.

A search of his brown bag led to the recovery of four sachets of heroin weighing a total of 300 grammes.

Police also recovered Ksh 95,000 in cash, which investigators suspect is linked to the narcotics trade.

Owuor was arrested at the scene and remains in police custody as detectives finalize investigations ahead of his arraignment in court.

The recovered heroin and the cash have been retained as exhibits as investigations continue.
