A DCI officer who reportedly seized alleged IEBC voter registration equipment found in a vehicle heading to Uganda was allegedly threatened and later transferred, according to an expose by KTN.
KTN reports that the officer was strongly warned to withdraw from the matter or risk being transferred within a week.
As predicted, the officer was transferred a few days later to DCI headquarters, where he continues to serve.
The expose by the top media station has raised questions over allegations that Kenyan voter registration materials were being moved into Uganda, with claims that foreign nationals could be targeted for registration and the Suam border at the centre of the controversy.
However, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has dismissed allegations of a scheme to move voters across the Kenya-Uganda border ahead of the 2027 General Election, saying the claims are unsubstantiated and unsupported by credible evidence.
In a statement issued on Sunday, September 27, the Commission rejected allegations of illegal voter registration, unlawful voter transfers and registration of foreign nationals, following the KTN investigative report.
IEBC maintained that voter registration is restricted to designated and gazetted centres and is conducted by trained officials under the supervision of Registration Officers.
