Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has arrived in Accra, Ghana, to attend the high-level Tana Forum on Security in Africa, a key continental platform focused on African-led solutions to peace, governance, and regional security challenges.
In a statement shared on X, Kenyatta confirmed his arrival ahead of the forum, which brings together African leaders, policymakers, and key stakeholders to deliberate on pressing security issues affecting the continent.
His participation comes amid his growing influence in regional peace initiatives and diplomatic engagements across Africa.
In 2024, Kenyatta joined the Tana Forum Board, placing him among a select group of former African heads of state entrusted with the strategic oversight of the institution.
The appointment followed his expanding role as an African Union peace envoy and mediator, particularly in conflict-prone regions such as the Horn of Africa and the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), where he has been actively involved in peace negotiations and stability efforts.
Upon arrival in Accra, the former Head of State was received by Kenya’s High Commissioner to Ghana, Colonel (Rtd) Shem Ishmailidza Amadi.
The Tana Forum is widely regarded as one of Africa’s most influential platforms for dialogue on security and governance, with a strong emphasis on homegrown solutions to the continent’s challenges.
