President William Ruto has mourned renowned Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo, who died alongside his wife, Lucy Muteke, and other passengers in a helicopter crash in Zimbabwe.
In a condolence message shared on his X account, Ruto said he was deeply saddened by the tragic death of his friend, describing Chivayo as a dear friend whose warmth touched many people.
“I am deeply saddened by the tragic passing of my friend, Wicknell Chivayo, together with his wife, Lucy Muteke, and the other lives lost in the helicopter crash in Zimbabwe,” Ruto wrote.
The President said Chivayo’s sudden departure was a painful loss to his family, friends and everyone who knew him.
“Wicknell was a dear friend whose warmth touched many people. I will remember him for his friendship, his energy and his deep conviction in the possibilities of our continent,” he added.
Ruto conveyed his deepest condolences to the families of all those who lost their lives, as well as Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the people of Zimbabwe.
“May God grant Wicknell, Lucy and all those who perished eternal rest,” Ruto said.
The deceased businessman was a frequent visitor to Kenya and during his visits, he shared photos being hosted by President Ruto at State House.
