As protests over the surge in fuel prices continue to rock the country, a video has emerged showing United Democratic Alliance leaders in Murang’a County doing something that has left many Kenyans seething with anger.
The UDA leaders, all known apologists of President William Ruto’s government, were captured on video holding enormous bundles of cash, flaunting it in a manner that suggested they had the keys to the national treasury tucked safely in their pockets.
Former Murang’a Woman Representative Sabina Chege and the current area woman representative Betty Maina were seen dancing gleefully with a whopping seven million shillings, putting on a show of wealth at a time when millions of ordinary Kenyans are going to bed hungry, crushed under the weight of a cost of living crisis made worse by the recent fuel price hike.
The timing of the video could not have been more tone-deaf. Across the country, citizens are on the streets demanding that the government reverse the fuel prices or face continued protests. Yet here were their elected leaders, dancing with money, seemingly unbothered and completely disconnected from the suffering of the very people they were elected to serve.
Below is the video of Murang’a UDA leaders dancing with cash as Kenyans continue to struggle. >>>>
