Detectives in Kisii have arrested four suspects linked to a brutal carjacking incident that left a young couple traumatized.
The suspects, who were earlier intercepted with a homemade firearm and several crude weapons, were positively identified during an identification parade conducted at Kisii Police Station.
According to a report by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the horrifying incident began along Mocheche Avenue when a young man and his girlfriend were attacked while seated inside their car by a gang of six armed men.
The assailants allegedly forced their way into the vehicle before taking control and driving the terrified couple to a secluded thicket in Bobaracho.
Once there, the gang reportedly robbed the victims of valuables, including Sh34,000 in cash, mobile phones, and other personal belongings.
In a chilling turn of events, the criminals are said to have blindfolded the couple and locked them inside the car boot before driving around for several hours.
The male victim was later abandoned in the Mabundu area of Nyamira County while the gang drove away with his girlfriend.
Police say the woman was subjected to a horrific ordeal by the suspects before being dumped in a remote area.
Following investigations, four suspects were arrested and later identified by the victim during an identification parade.
The suspects were identified as Peter Kuria, Moses Kariuki, Robert Omosa, and Evans Makori.
Authorities confirmed that the four are currently being processed pending arraignment in court.
Meanwhile, detectives have launched a manhunt for the two remaining suspects believed to have participated in the attack.
Police condemned the incident as heinous and assured the public that efforts are ongoing to ensure all those involved are brought to justice.
