A senior doctor at The Karen Hospital has died after reportedly falling at a shopping mall in Karen, Nairobi, in an incident that has shocked colleagues, friends, and the wider medical fraternity.
Dr. James Kariuki, a Senior Registrar in General Surgery and Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellow at the hospital, passed away on Sunday morning under circumstances that were still unclear by Sunday afternoon.
In a statement, The Karen Hospital described Dr. Kariuki as a dedicated and compassionate medic who served patients with professionalism, humility, and commitment.
“Dr. Kariuki was a valued member of The Karen Hospital family, remembered for his dedication, professionalism, compassion, and commitment to patient care,” part of the statement read.
The hospital further praised his warm personality and ability to easily connect with colleagues, patients, and friends.
“He carried himself with warmth and humility, always wearing a smile and connecting easily with everyone around him. His friendly nature, kind spirit, and ability to relate with people made him greatly loved by colleagues, patients, and friends alike,” the statement added.
His sudden death has been described as a huge loss to both the hospital and the wider medical community, where he was highly respected for his service and dedication.
