Police officers from Miwani Police Station and Kibos Police Post, working together with National Government Administrative Officers (NGAO), have conducted a successful crackdown on illicit alcohol dens in Kasiaya Village, Kisumu County.

According to a statement from the National Police Service, the joint operation targeted notorious illegal brewing sites that had been strategically hidden along local streams and inside agricultural plantations to avoid detection by authorities.

During the raid, officers managed to dismantle two major illicit brew production sites believed to have been operating in the area for some time.

Police also destroyed more than 1,000 litres of kangara that was found at the dens during the operation.

Several fermentation drums, jerrycans, and other equipment used in the illegal distillation and storage process were confiscated and destroyed on site.

Authorities said the crackdown forms part of an ongoing nationwide campaign aimed at eliminating the production, distribution, and consumption of illicit alcohol and drugs.

The National Police Service reiterated its commitment to protecting communities from the dangers associated with illegal brews and substance abuse.
