The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General, Hassan Omar, has used unkind words towards former President Uhuru Kenyatta over the fuel protests that rocked the country yesterday.
During a press conference on Tuesday, Hassan, who is a close ally of President William Ruto’s aide Farouk Kibet, held his address in front of University of Nairobi students whom he had hired to cheer him on, like during the Nyayo Era.
Hassan claimed that the protests were organized by the Kikuyu community, who do not want Ruto to excel in the presidency the way Uhuru Kenyatta ruled the country for 10 years. Hassan urged the Kikuyu community, whom he termed thieves and robbers, to allow Ruto to rule the country for 10 years, the way they allowed Uhuru, a renowned land grabber, to rule for 10 years.
The UDA boss further wondered why the Kenyatta family has huge tracts of land in Kwale, Taita Taveta, and Mombasa counties, yet many Kenyans are saying Ruto is the only thieving president. Hassan asked, and these are his exact words, “Kina Kenyatta wako na mashamba Kwale, Taita Taveta na Mombasa na babako alikuwa mzee alipatje hayo mashamba yote?”
Hassan seems to have indirectly linked former President Uhuru Kenyatta to yesterday’s protests that spread to more than 30 counties in Kenya and exposed President William Ruto.
President William Ruto is currently globetrotting as his coterie tries to link the former president to yesterday’s fuel protests that left 6 people dead and hundreds injured.
Hassan Omar is not the first person in the UDA to attack Uhuru Kenyatta. On Monday, during a press conference, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen seemed to link the protests to Uhuru Kenyatta and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who are the political kingpins of the Mount Kenya region.
