Outrage is mounting among Kayole residents after a shocking incident exposed what many are calling a serious failure in emergency response at a local public health facility.
According to a social media user, a person collapsed by the roadside and members of the public rushed to Kayole One Hospital seeking urgent assistance, including a stretcher.
However, they were allegedly turned away from the facility.
With no emergency support forthcoming, the community was forced to improvise, using a mkokoteni (handcart) to transport the patient.
The incident has sparked anger and concern, with residents questioning how a health facility can operate without basic emergency equipment or a rapid response system. Many have termed the situation inhumane, arguing that such lapses could cost lives in critical situations where every second counts.
Residents say the incident is a wake-up call and are demanding accountability from the hospital management, as well as urgent improvements to ensure patients receive timely and dignified care.
