A disturbing video has emerged showing United Democratic Alliance (UDA) goons running riot through Ol Kalou town, beating residents freely while police officers stand at a distance and watch as though Kenya is a country where the law no longer exists.
The goons, reportedly led by a known troublemaker identified as Wamugunda, were seen roaming the streets and assaulting anyone they suspected of not supporting UDA candidate Samuel Muchina in the upcoming July 16th by-election.
Residents who had nothing to do with politics found themselves caught in the middle of the mayhem, with no protection from the officers who were deployed to keep order but chose instead to look the other way.
According to a reliable source, each goon has been receiving Sh1,500 per day to create chaos and fear in Ol Kalou, a direct attempt by the state to destabilise the ground ahead of the mini poll. The desperation behind the payments tells its own story. UDA’s Samuel Muchina is bleeding support on the ground, and the ruling party knows it.
Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) candidate Samuel Kamau Ngotho is understood to be firmly ahead in the race, and it is precisely that momentum that has forced the state to abandon any pretense of a fair contest and resort to terror as a campaign tool.
The question that demands an answer is a simple one. Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, the man constitutionally responsible for the security of every Kenyan citizen, has remained completely silent as state-sponsored goons beat innocent people in Ol Kalou with the full knowledge of police officers on the ground. Why?
Here is the video of state-sponsored goons unleashing terror in Ol Kalou as police watch from a distance.
