A video has emerged showing an American transport plane arriving at Laikipia Airbase in Nanyuki. The plane is believed to be bringing Americans who contracted the Ebola virus from the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The C-130 Hercules was seen landing at the expansive base, which sits between the Aberdares and Mount Kenya. According to impeccable sources, the behemoth American military carrier was carrying American patients who got infected while working in the mining and hospitality industries in the DRC, Congo.
The arrival of the plane came a day after the High Court suspended US plans to open an Ebola quarantine facility for American citizens in Kenya.
In its court petition, the rights group Katiba Institute warned that the arrangement posed grave and imminent risks to public health. A High Court judge then barred the operation of any Ebola facility in Kenya by any foreign government until the case is heard and determined.
The US isolation centre in Kenya is intended to treat American citizens believed to have been exposed to the virus in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda, according to US officials.
The current Ebola outbreak, which is centred in the east of the DR Congo, is suspected to have caused at least 220 deaths and more than 900 infections so far, the Congolese authorities say. There have also been seven cases and one death in Uganda.
Here is a video of Ebola patients arriving at Laikipia Airbase despite a court order barring the government from accepting foreign patients. Many feel this poses a danger to Kenyan citizens and the country’s already dilapidated health infrastructure.
