Shock has gripped residents of Inoorero area in Kamunyaka, Githobokoni Ward, Gatundu North, after the decomposing body of a woman was discovered hidden inside a water tank that had reportedly been in use by a family.
The disturbing discovery has left the family and residents stunned, with questions now emerging over how the woman ended up inside the tank and how long the body had remained there.
According to reports from the area, the body was discovered inside the water tank before police were notified.
Officers who responded to the scene retrieved the body and moved it to the General Kago Funeral Home in Thika, where it is being preserved pending further examination.
Police have since launched investigations to establish the identity of the deceased and determine the circumstances surrounding her death.
Detectives are also working to establish whether the woman was known to the family, how she accessed the water tank and how long the body had been inside.
