Police officers from Muthangari Police Station in Dagoretti Sub-County have arrested eight suspects during a targeted operation against illicit brews, drug trafficking, and other criminal activities in Kawangware.

The operation, conducted on Thursday, July 2, 2026, led to the recovery of 124 litres of illicit brew (chang’aa), which officers said was being packaged in plastic bags for sale to local customers.

Among those arrested were women suspected of engaging in the illegal trade.

The eight suspects were escorted to Muthangari Police Station, where they remain in custody pending processing and arraignment in court.

The National Police Service (NPS) commended the officers involved in the operation, saying the crackdown forms part of ongoing efforts to curb the sale of illicit alcohol, drug trafficking, and other criminal activities.

Police have assured members of the public that similar targeted operations will continue in different parts of the country.
