Former Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has sent a bold message to the Mt Kenya region following UDA’s performance in the just concluded by-elections.
Taking to his official X account, Kuria said the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party had won all the three by-elections contested, describing the results as a “100% performance.”
In his message, the former Gatundu South MP claimed that President William Ruto would secure re-election even without support from the Mt Kenya region.
Kuria further insinuated that there would be “crying and gnashing of teeth” in 2027, insisting that President Ruto would easily win a second term whether Mt Kenya voters support him or not.
“Dear Mt Kenya. There were 3 by elections today. UDA won all three. 100% performance. I will keep reminding you even if you do not like it. William Ruto will be re-elected without a single Mt Kenya vote. There will be crying and gnashing of teeth,” Kuria wrote.
Kuria’s remarks come at a time when President Ruto continues to face resistance in parts of the Mt Kenya region following the impeachment of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Despite the growing resistance, Ruto has been making efforts to regain support in the vote-rich region ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Mt Kenya played a crucial role in Ruto’s 2022 presidential victory, with the region overwhelmingly backing his Kenya Kwanza bid and helping propel him to State House.
