Speed Cameras Locations and Required Speeds in Nairobi and Kiambu Counties—Don’t Get Caught!!

The Ministry of Transport under the leadership of Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir has installed and reactivated speed cameras on major roads in Nairobi and Kiambu counties to curb road carnage and dangerous driving.

In a notice, the National Transportation Safety Authority, which operates under the Ministry of Transport, informed Kenyans, particularly those living in Nairobi and its outskirts, that motorists will now be monitored by cameras. Drivers who break traffic laws will receive instant fines and could also face suspension or cancellation of their driving licenses.

A spot check by CityNews has now revealed some of the locations where the traffic cameras have been installed. The cameras are already actively tracking drivers who violate traffic rules, especially those caught over speeding or jumping traffic lights within the city.

1. THIKA SUPERHIGHWAY

2. SOUTHERN BYPASS

Southern Bypass to Virtual Weighbridge – 80 km/h
Ngong Road Interchange to Southern Bypass – 80 km/h

3. NORTHERN BYPASS

Northern Bypass after Gitaru – 80 km/h
Ruaka or Wangige to Northern Bypass – 80 km/h

4. EXPRESSWAY

Museum Hill to Westlands – 80 km/h
After Nyayo Stadium to Expressway – 80 km/h
Mombasa Road to Nyayo Stadium – 80 km/h
Sameer Business Park or GM to Mombasa Road – 80 km/h
Cabanas or JKIA to Mombasa Road—80 km/h
Waiyaki Way around Kangemi and Uthiru – 60 to 80 km/h

Motorists using these roads are therefore advised to strictly follow the set speed limits and obey traffic rules to avoid instant penalties under the new automated traffic monitoring system.
