Nyaribari Masaba Member of Parliament Daniel Manduku has suggested that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is closely watching Deputy President Kithure Kindiki’s political footing, especially in light of the upcoming Ol Kalou by-election.
Speaking during an interview on TV47, Manduku said ODM is keenly interested in the outcome of the race, describing it as a potential entry point into broader political negotiations.
The seat fell vacant following the death of the area MP, who had been ailing.
Manduku noted that Kindiki will have to work significantly harder to secure the seat and prove his political influence in the Mt. Kenya region.
“At ODM, we are salivating for DP Kindiki’s seat. The Olkalou contest is going to give him sleepless nights. He will have to work ten times harder to secure the Olkalou seat; otherwise, it will give ODM an entry point to start negotiating for it,” Manduku said.
The legislator further suggested that failure by Kindiki to secure influence in the Ol Kalou race could weaken his political standing ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Meanwhile, a section of influential ODM politicians have previously floated the idea that President William Ruto should consider replacing Kindiki with an ODM candidate as his deputy in 2027.
